Pregnancy and medication
Many medications can affect your baby so always consult with your doctor before starting or continuing any medication during pregnancy.
Never forget to say you’re pregnant
You should never start any type of treatment, especially one that involves taking medicines, during your pregnancy without talking to your GP or LMC about it
Same applies if you’re already on medication, for example for asthma, allergies or depression Consult with your doctor as soon as you know you’re pregnant And never stop taking medication without talking to your doctor first
Be careful with medication while breastfeeding
And all of this applies when you’re breastfeeding too; always tell your health care provider that you are breastfeeding A lot of medications, including natural medicines, pass into the breast milk
